Knits for Preemies said...

Hi Jenny. I tried emailing this to you but the email address didn't work. I am responding to the comment you left on my "Dean Street Hat" post on my blog.

I loved knitting the Baby Surprise Jacket. It was my first attempt. I plan to do more, but so many projects are ahead of another BSJ.

Just to clarify -- the notes you are referring to are written by Dawn Adcock, not me--link: http://www.3gcs.com/adcock/free%20patterns/BSS%20Notes.htm . Dawn's notes were a huge help in knitting the BSJ, which can be a bit daunting if you are having to knit it all on your own for the first time.

As far as the type of stitch markers to use, it's been quite a while since I knit that little sweater, so I frankly don't remember if the plain round stitch markers were a pain or not...don't remember for sure what kind stitch markers I even used in those places. It would certainly be worth experimenting with both to see what works best.

Here's another helpful link that aided me in wrapping my brain around this pattern:

It really helps to keep notes somewhere where you can find them at a later date. That's what I love about Ravelry (are you a member over there yet? www.ravelry.com ). Now when I start a project, I record everything on my project page at Ravelry. Then as I go along, I add any notes that might be helpful to me if I should knit that pattern again at a later date. Another great thing is that you can read other folks' notes before you ever start on a pattern.

Hope the links are helpful to you.
